Stauber Design Studio is a communications company
in Chicago that works side-by-side with its clients to
craft printed communications such as branding programs,
identity systems, marketing collateral, annual

"We needed a simple, web-based system to track and check
hours and expenses for various jobs and, in the case of one
client, an efficient way to track time for numerous projects
and bill it against a monthly retainer," said Joy Panos Stauber,

Before Stauber started using TimeFox, they kept notes in
their date books for project time, recording them at the
end of each week on Excel timesheets and expense tallies.

"We did a lot of research about time-tracking systems.
Looking back, I should have tracked that time!" said Joy.
Stauber had years worth of data in QuickBooks and in ACT,
and wanted to stay away from software that also handled
the books and contact database, since it would mean paying
for functionality that would go unused, or spending an unrealistic
amount of time re-creating that data in a new system.
It seemed impossible to find time-tracking software that
was simple and focused in functionality. They had reached
the point where they were designing their own system so
they could have exactly what they needed.
"I was working on the design of the user interface for our
own system when I received direct mail from FunctionFox.

rather than to continue building our own system," said Joy.
"And it's worked beautifully."
