9 - Toot your own horn.

There's a whole community of freelancers out there sharing experiences, offering advice, and ready to help you market yourself effectively. 8 - Get friendly with social media.

In today's marketplace, being savvy about social media is not only good for you personally, it's essential for your business. Most freelancers work alone. Joining a professional organization offers a perfect way to extend your network, learn from your peers, and feel like part of a team. Join organizations such as The International Association of Communication Professionals, and/or Freelancers Union.
